Why character counts differ

You’ll see six, eight and even ten characters quoted for GTA 6. Most of the gap comes from what gets counted. Rockstar’s site has eight profiles: the two leads and six others. Six is the supporting cast on its own. Real Dimez is one profile for two people, so a count of people comes to nine. Longer lists add names from trailers, and a few of those trace back to leaks, which is why we don’t use them.

The three extra names in our table are a different case. They appear in Rockstar’s bios and a store description. That tells you they exist, not that they matter to the story or that you can play as them.

Why names say Confirmed and descriptions say Reported

The names are on Rockstar’s own site. The one-line descriptions summarize Rockstar’s character pages, but we read those through press coverage, so they stay Reported until we’ve checked the pages directly. They’re marketing text, not story detail, and we keep them at that level.

Who plays them

Only one performer for these characters is on record. Stephen Root said in an Associated Press interview that he’s in the game. The link to Brian Heder comes from Variety and ComicBook, not from Rockstar. No credits list exists, so be wary of any page listing “confirmed” voice actors. GTABase relays a report that performers were reminded of their non-disclosure agreements until launch, which would explain the silence.

Rumor: fans link particular actors to Jason, Lucia and Cal, going by voices and past roles. Nobody with inside access has claimed this, and Rockstar hasn’t confirmed any of it. These are real people, so we don’t name them here.

The radio hosts are a separate list, on our soundtrack page.

What’s unclear about playing as both

Reports say you can switch, and that some missions limit you to one character. How the game splits its time between them isn’t known. Fan guides describe button inputs, trust meters and shared inventories, but none of that has a source, so don’t plan around it.

No spoilers, now or later

This page stops at what Rockstar’s marketing shows. Rockstar takes down videos that spoil the story, and we hold the same line: no story roles, twists or endings here, even after launch. To see the characters for yourself, start with the official trailers. To see where they live and work, read about the map.

What we’ll add after launch

  • The performers, taken from the game’s credits and not from fan lists.
  • Anything Rockstar adds to its character pages.
  • How switching between Jason and Lucia works in practice, credited to whoever documents it.
