Why the age changes from country to country
Each board uses its own scale, so 17, 18 and 21 don’t point to three different games. Nobody has announced a separate version for Saudi Arabia, the UAE or Japan. In Germany, USK 18 means the game can be sold only to adults. In Saudi Arabia, 21+ is the regulator’s top category, and it was still new when GTA V received it in 2025.
The Gulf rating can also look different from store to store. Both regulators have changed names, and PlayStation’s stores still use the older codes while Microsoft’s catalog uses the newer ones. Every badge in the table means the same thing: 21+.
Why PEGI 18 is labeled Reported
Most coverage treats PEGI 18 as settled. We keep the label because PEGI’s detailed page reportedly went up and came down the same day, and our search of its database found no entry. Until that changes, go by the age mark on your local store page or box.
Is GTA 6 OK for kids?
No. Every rating above starts at 17 or higher, so GTA 6 isn’t a game for children or younger teens. We haven’t played it, so we can’t tell you how any scene looks. A board’s label tells you what kind of content a game has, not how often it appears.
If children share your console, the general approach is the same on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S:
- Give each child their own account in your family group, because the controls apply to that account.
- Set an age limit so that games above it are blocked.
- Limit spending so that a child can’t buy add-ons or upgrades without you.
We can’t test these menus and they change with system updates, so follow the official guides: PlayStation’s How to set parental controls on PlayStation consoles and Xbox’s family settings page.
Gulf and Arab countries
Of the Arab markets we’ve checked, only Saudi Arabia and the UAE sell the game on local stores. In Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and Lebanon it’s missing with no explanation, and we won’t call that a ban unless a regulator or the publisher does. Our Arabic support and availability page has the rest, including Egypt, Jordan and Morocco.
The gambling row matters here. GTA Online’s casino features were reportedly disabled in Saudi Arabia when GTA V launched there, and nobody has said whether anything in GTA 6 will change. We won’t call the Gulf versions cut or uncut without evidence.
What we’ll add after launch
We’ll update this page if regional changes are documented in Saudi Arabia, the UAE or Japan, if PEGI publishes a final entry, and when it’s clear how Australian age checks work in practice. The descriptions will stay general, with no scene-by-scene detail.
