Will GTA 6 be cheaper on Black Friday? Don't count on it, and waiting has a cost

Don’t count on it: Take-Two reportedly intends to hold GTA 6’s price, and no discount has been announced. Retailers can run their own offers, but Black Friday falls on November 27, eight days after launch and a week after the pre-order bonus ends.
What Take-Two reportedly said
This goes back to CEO Strauss Zelnick’s comments on CNBC in August, which Beebom and IBTimes UK covered. Only part of his wording is quoted. He pointed out that Take-Two held GTA 5’s price for a very long time. On stores, he said “certain retailers will price down to drive demand for other things they sell, so I can’t tell you what will happen.”
Worth knowing: in the quotes we read, he doesn’t mention Black Friday. That framing comes from the outlets. GameRant says Take-Two has stated it won’t offer direct discounts for Black Friday or the holidays, but it doesn’t quote the company on that. Read it as a reported intention about Take-Two’s own pricing, not a promise about every store.
What Best Buy is offering
GameRant reports two Best Buy offers and calls them Black Friday deals. Neither lowers the price of the game:
- A certificate for My Best Buy members who pre-order GTA 6 and buy an eligible PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. It’s issued after both orders are fulfilled and can’t be used on either one.
- Rewards for My Best Buy Plus and Total members. GameRant says this offer ends before launch, so it’ll be gone by Black Friday.
We expect more retailer offers around Black Friday, but that’s our estimate, and none has been announced. Stores don’t need Black Friday to act, either: some already sell boxed copies below list price.
What waiting costs
Every edition comes with the Vintage Vice City Pack if you buy before November 20. Rockstar gives no time zone, so treat November 19 as your last safe day. The pack reportedly includes a ’55 Vapid Stanier with a garage, retro outfits and a weapon pattern. Digital pre-orders also get a free month of GTA+.
Your choice:
- Playing at launch anyway? Buy by November 19. You’d be giving up the pack for a discount that may never come.
- Only buying if it’s cheaper? Wait if you like, but accept that the pack will be gone.
